2 years ago, at age 26 I weight 125lbs. I’m 5’8….I ate whatever I wanted (watching portions) and worked out about 2-3 times per week (1/2 hour cardio). At 28, my weight is now up to 132lbs. without changing anything at all! To lose the 7lbs. I gained, I have tried many different tactics…I’ll only tell you about those I tried in the passed 6 months….Excercising 2-3 times a week 40 min. cardio and 20 min. weight train mixing it up. I kept eating as I normally would expecting to burn more calories since, when I returned home from the gym I would be literally SOAKING wet, my hair, my chest, my back…I thought for sure this would work…2 weeks of this…NOTHING. So, then I tried counting calories, eating lean cuisines and smart ones for dinner…cut my calorie intake to 1200 per day and continued working out….2 weeks later….NOTHING…then I tried the “Cabbage Soup” diet for a 8 days and only lost 2 lbs which came right back as soon as I ate something other than cabbage soup…then I tried eating 900 calories per day and didn’t work out as much because I didn’t have the energy (obvously, who could have energy at 900 calories)…2 weeks of this….NOTHING….then I tried these all natural green tea pills that I would take before bed, while eating 1,000 calories per day (I could function on only 900 calories anymore) and excersising 2-3 times per week doing both cardio and weights 30-40 min…..3 weeks of this and NOTHING….Now, I’m taking slimbionic to help me not eat after 6pm each day. I’ll have a peice of flax fiber toast with 1 tbsp of peanut butter for breakfast, another piece of flax fiber peanut butter toast for lunch and an apple, mid afternoon snack I’ll have a banana and usually chicken or beef with veggies for dinner…that’s it…to fight my starving stomach I started taking these pills…been doing this for 2 weeks and absolutley NOTHING. I am at my wits end and if I don’t find something that works soon I don’t know what I’ll do. Please help!

About 9 months ago I notices I was starting to gain a little weight. So over the next three months I cut out all fast foods, then all processed foods and anything high I. Fat carbs sugar or calories and replaced my diet with generally 75% fresh all natural whole foods. I then began nightly abdominal routines and push ups. This went of for a God six months until I added on daily resistance exercises in the gym hitting different muscle groups every day. The. I added on cardio about two mo the ago running one mile per day up to now, where I run three miles a day for six days and seven miles on one day. I haven’t missed a day in three weeks. After all of this, in the past two months I have noticed very noticible change in my stomach fat. It has increased quite a bit actually and it makes no sense to me why with my diet and workouts. Neither of my parents are fat, or my brothers or sisters. My dad was actually ripped at my age with little effort. I am putting out more effort then some professional agheletes and I’m getting negative results. Why?? I am 19 6’0 ft tall and 162 pounds.

For My childcare BTEC reaserch project, really appreciate anyone answering.

At what age did you have your first child?

    Baby boy or girl?

Did you have a healthy baby?

How many children do you have?

Why did you choose to have a baby at this age?

What type of birth did you opt for (Natural birth, water birth, suzerain section.)

Why did you opt for this birth style?

What is your opinion on the birth that you had? (Was it a good or bad experience?)

Did you opt for pain killers and what kind?

Do you anything about the dangers of having a child over the age of 35? (For mother and child)

Do you know about the dangers of having a child under 16? (For mother and child)

Do you think that more should be done to publicise the risks of having a child at these ages to make mothers more aware and allow people to make more educated and informed choices?

Do you think 16 is an adequate age for consent? (Please elaborate with your own opinions.)

Do you think schools teach children about the dangers of sex and pregnancy at a young age in an adequate way?

Most of my life I had long hair that also grew very quickly and, at the age of 20, my hair came to the middle of my back (just under by bra line). Unfortunately, I made a bad decision at this time and let a neighbor do my hair and, as a result, my hair was fried, felt like straw, and I had to get it chopped off all the way up to my chin! Well, now 6 years later, my hair has only grown to my collarbone. I look back at pictures of myself from a year or two ago and it does not look much longer at all…it’s very frustrating as I just want my long hair back! Is there anything that anyone knows of that works to help this? I’ve know that there is no “quick fix” or “miracle cure” but I am looking for some advice that someone has tried and knows works…even if it will take a bit. I’m just hoping for growth of more than an inch a year, which is about the rate it seems to have gone since I had to cut my hair.

    Thanks!! :-)

Can evolution, this process (or, what’s a better term for it?), can it ever stop? Can it ever be stopped? Why or Why not?
Ok. Let me be a bit more specific. Life doesn’t depend upon evolution then? If we were to be successful in human cloning; indeed, other types of cloning assurng the survival of other species who are becoming extinct, and if we were to advance in genetic enginering so that we would no longer face random mutations. What I am basically getting at is this: the more advanced we bome; indeed, the more intelligent we become the more we perserver our own species as well as the species of other animals. We do all kinds of research towards the possibility of longer lasting life, even to the point of immortality (science is now asking whether its possible to create something that would allow human beings to live forever). Wouldn’t we also need other species to live forever as well, since we depend on many other species for our survival? All this seems to imply science is overriding its own thesis that evolution is necessary for life to progress, along with the theory of natual selection.
It’s kind of hard to express what I’m trying to get out…how can this natualistic system that organisms have depended upon for millions of years just cease to exist? Like I said above, if all of this were to end of prevailing one day and we could live forever, cloning assured the survival of endangered species then there isn o longer a “survival of the fittest”; no longer a theory of natual selection. With genetic enginering progressing in research to assure us of perfections and longer lasting life how is any species to evolve with such genetic enhancments? The MAIN QUESTION I guess that I am trying to get out is this: Is it possible that science through all it marvelous advancements (listed above) is actually disproving some major tenets of evolution as a theory necessary for all sorts of life on earth?

I am 27 and I noticed the first fine line under eyes. I have sensitive skin, but La Roche Posay Redermic treatment worked really well for my face. Unfortunately, the same range Redermic R eye cream is not available to buy in the UK, but we have cream called La Roche-Posay Redermic [C] Anti-Ageing Sensitive Eyes Fill-In Care. It contains mannose and hyaluronic acid and is a filler.

Could you advise me please if it is suitable for my age? I am cautious that it may mess up the natural regeneration of my skin and since this moment I’ll always have to use fillers and liftings…

    Many thanks in advance!

I’m 22 years old and I have put on 40 lbs. since I’ve gotten out of high school. I don’t have time to go surf or skate like I used to. I would just like some suggestions to keep fit and stay healthy. I know with age normally come weight, but I would still like to slow down the process a little bit.

  12. Arminator June 9, 2014 9:22 am

I not really that vain, but my mother who is 45 has a ton of wrinkles. I do not want wrinkles and want to know what I can do naturally to help slow the process down. I use very expensive moisturizers and keep out of the sun, but are there any tips?

Also, is there any product that could help take away my mother’s wrinkles? or at least help in some sort of way?

  13. Harriet W June 10, 2014 7:57 am

Of course you can’t. There is no evolutionary reason why any organisms, including people should die of aging. After all natural selection has to do with adaptations, in regards to the environment and other species, but not time. We cannot control time, so we age.

Whereas if you allow for there being a God, it suddenly makes sense. God has created us for a purpose. Each one of us has not been created out of chance but out of necessity. We all serve some purpose, and after we have (either positively or negatively) achieved this purpose we die.

We don’t live forever because there would be not point to life. Life cannot exist without death. Love cannot exist without hate.
    .
Why do you attack me? If you can’t bring something useful to the table, do not answer.
Jared. If you can explain scientifically WHY humans age you would get a Nobel prize.
Jared, your explanation would make sense if you could show that the lifespan of humans has increased over the last say 100000 years. It has in fact remained relatively the same. This is not accounting increases in medical health, hygiene etc..

100000 years is not a long time admitedly but you would expect that natural selection reduces your “bad genes” – by the way saying genes are bad is a logical fallacy. Nothing that nature makes is good or bad.Imperfections, if that is what you mean arise from mutations. But mutations, at least large ones, do not allow the organism to live long, it doesn’t reproduce and no continuation arises.

The truth is, as you say that no theory is really accepted. Aging does not make much sense from an evolutionary point of view.

Ok, I need advice from some people knowledgable in this subject.

I’m a man, in his mid-20′s, who needs skin care help. Now, I am often told I look older, 30ish, not in a bad way, I just have a mature look. But, it bugs me, I aged a lot in the past few years. Mostly, I believe, moving to Arizona and riding my back in the Arizona sun.

I had acne problems my entire life and finally got it under control the passed few years, mostly with diet (strict no-dairy/ no-wheat/ no processed foods)and proper facial washing- so I have oily skin. But, I don’t moisturize or do any of that stuff, but, in fear of aging worse and worse, I’d like to slow it down.

So, I need help, I use alba pineapple facial scrub in the morning, with the hibiscus toner, then at night I use Neutrogena acne face wash (the orange crap) with the toner, then neutrogena moisturizer (recently added the past few months, it works ok I guess).

Does anyone have any AMAZING facial creams I can add before bed, preferably all-natural or organic? Plus, a good facial cream for the morning, nothing too heavy and wont make me look greasy.

  15. Coffee t June 10, 2014 4:14 pm

does anybody know good face washes and astringents to help clear up blackheads(on my face cheeks) and pimples(they’re nothing major, but they’re still there,i get them mostly on my forehead, nose, face cheeks and nose).

and please recommend something that i can buy at walgreens or walmart.
    thanks.
    :]

So I dyed the bottom layer of my hair a couple of times. I obviously bleached it as well. I knew that it night fall out because if the damage from the bleach, but that’s not what I’m talking about. The part of my hair that is all natural has started falling out like crazy! I’m talking run my hand through and come back with like fifteen hairs on my hand! It’s starting to get embarrassing. I think people are starting to notice how my hair goes everywhere and I keep picking it off …

Now my mum thinks I’m anemic and she’s thought that for a couple of months. I think I heard hair loss is a symptom of anemia. Could this be why my hair is falling out? Please help!!!

TWell I’ve been to this water park a lot since the start of the summer and one time I went I got this bad sunburn. Well, my skin started peeling and I kind of helped it peel by peeling some of the skin myself. Well a day or two later this red patch of skin came up where I peeled the skin (on my chest and shoulder) it is about 1 1/2 inches long on both and it is red and sort of rough feeling and on my shoulder it has a sort of whiteish reddish spot on it. Plus it sort of hurts sometimes. Is my skin just raw or is this a sign of skin cancer?

I had a skin cancer screening today as I am a sunbather and had plenty of sunburns in my time. I have dark hair and plenty of moles. The NP took a biopsy of a 9 mm mole underneath my breast. I had sun poisoning on my chest a few years ago and had a benign mole removed from that area. The NP was worried about this mole due to the size–large, she said, and uneven on the sides and dark in the center. Does this sound like it might be cancer?

My mom was diagnosed with leukemia almost a year ago and now found out that she also has squamous cell skin cancer. Did having leukemia put her at a greater risk for developing the skin cancer or is it unrelated? Am I at a greater risk for developing skin cancer? We are both very fair-skinned and have light colored hair.
